I believe that essence of the NAM/KAM role is 'responsibility without authority' Awaiting designated authority for such an open-ended role wastes too much time... In other words, a well thought out and approved customer strategy automatically confers appropriate authority on even the the most junior NAM/KAM. Acting without the authority can be hazardous, if only to reputation...
