In the
overall market we have seen little change in base price
over the last month. Categories such as Household have
seen base price increases, but this has been
counteracted with categories such as Beverages and
Health & Beauty declining in price.

Major Price Changes
The
Cleaning category has experienced the most price
increases in the last month driven by brands such as
Flash, Cillit Bang, Hob Brite and Oven Pride which have
seen price increases across the Major Multiples.
Virtually all brands within Hot Milky drinks have seen
price increases across the Major Mults with Asda,
Sainsbury’s and Tesco all up 3%. Butters and Spreads
price decline has mainly been driven by Clover and Flora
with Flora 1kg packs down 15% in Tesco over the last
month.
Promotional Trends
Over
the last year Brand View have seen more price reduction
promotions taking place with an increased number of
products being sold on Save Amount, Half Price and Save
a Third promotions. In addition we are seeing multibuy
promotions remaining static. For some brands the change
is more noticeable with companies cutting back on
multibuy to increase price reduction promotions.
Recent Brand
View analysis has shown for a number of brands this
approach is really working with Half Price activity
delivering higher uplifts than that seen from multibuy
promotions. These uplifts look to be increasing even
more in the last six months with consumers monitoring
prices closer than ever before. To find out more
