German retail group Metro AG has said its supervisory board chairman Guenther Huelse has resigned as of June 3, 2004 for personal reasons. He also resigned on April 29, 2004 as chairman of the supervisory board of German pharmaceuticals trader Celesio AG, part of Franz Haniel. Theo Siegert, member of the management board of diversified holding company Franz Haniel & Cie GmbH, will become member of Metro's supervisory board. The board will meet on June 4, 2004 to elect a new chairman. Franz Haniel & Cie is owned by the Haniel family, one of the three families jointly holding a 55.7 pct stake in Metro.
