Metro Cash & Carry Russia plans to open four wholesale stores in Russia sometime in June-August, Andrea Francesco Martinelli, general director of Metro Cash & Carry Russia, told reporters Tuesday. Investments in each store will amount to approximately 18 million euros, Martinelli said. The stores will be opened in Ryazan, Lipetsk, Ulyanovsk and Perm, he said.
In addition to these stores the company is in talks to open three or four other stores in Russia, Martinelli said. He did not name the regions where the stores may be opened. Metro Cash&Carry began operations in Russia in 2000. At the present time it has 22 small wholesale stores in eight Russian regions, including seven stores in Moscow.
