POLAND: SABMiller’s Local Unit Reports FY Sales Growth

SABMiller’s Polish unit Kompania Piwowarska, the largest brewer in the country, has seen its full-year sales grow by 6.2% to 15 million hectolitres in 2008. Organic sales, which excluded results from the acquired Browar Belgia brewer, were up 4.7%. The brewer saw its market share grow to 42.1%, from 40.4% in 2007. It said all its major brands reported sales growth, and its flagship Tyskie brand had a market share of 17%.

The company’s growth compares favourably to the wider market results, with local brewing lobby ZPPP stating that beer sales rose by just 1.7% to 35.6 million hectolitres in 2008.
