Portuguese retail giant Sonae continues to expand across Spain, with a new regulatory filing showing that it has opened 11 new stores in 2010. The move is part of the group’s international expansion plans, under which it plans to open 45 new outlets in Spain this year.
The new outlets were opened under its ‘Zippy’ children’s clothing, ‘Worten’ electricals, and ‘SportZone’ sporting goods banners. The stores are located in cities including Valencia, Barcelona, and Zaragoza.
The company operated 38 outlets in Spain as of end-2009, and generated sales of E144m during the year, up from E30m in 2008.
