UAE: Dubai Duty Free Reports Double-Digit H1 Sales Growth

Dubai Duty Free continues to see strong growth, and has announced that sales in the first six months of 2010 jumped up 16% year-on-year to US$607m. DDF said it saw growth across all categories, with the best results coming from sales of perfumes – up 18% to $84m.

Sales of confectionery were up 16% to $49m, electronics were up 7% to $44m, and sales of gold rose 11% to $65m. DDF added that it had also recorded a rise in average spend for departing passengers, which grew to US$47.

Sales at departure were up 18% on the year, sales at arrivals rose by 4%, and sales at public shops were up 9%.
