JAPAN: Starbucks To Sell Products Through Retailers

Starbucks has announced plans to sell its products through Japanese retailers, through a tie-up with Ajinomoto General Food. Under the deal, Starbucks will begin selling its Origami Personal Drip coffee system and its ‘Via’ instant coffee brand, starting autumn 2010.

The move will make it the first time that Starbucks-branded products will be sold in Japan outside of Starbucks’ retail stores. The US coffee chain said it will also offer its ground and packaged coffees as part of the deal.

The move comes at the same time that Starbucks said it plans to sell its products in the UK through the Tesco chain.
