The Agrial and Eurial co-operatives have agreed to merge their dairy units, creating the second-largest such group in the country, trailing Sodiaal. The combined dairy businesses will have sales of just under €2bn, and will produce more than 2bn litres of milk a year. The combined unit will also focus on producing goat's cheeses, ultra-fresh dairy products, and cheese ingredients.
A joint statement noted: “Agrial and Eurial share a common vision of the future of France's dairy sector and the changes which lie ahead with the end of dairy quotas in 2015. Together, they will put the accent on added value and growth offered by rapidly developing international markets.”
Work on integrating the units will begin later this year, and is expected to be completed in 2014.
