S. AFRICA: Clicks Targets 800 Stores, Reports Solid H1 Growth

The Clicks Group has reported solid growth for its fiscal first half, even as it said it is aiming to have 800 stores operational in the long term.

For the six months to end-February 2017, sales were up 8.5% to 13.1bn rand, while operating profit jumped up 14.7% to 840m rand.  Overall Retail sales were up 13.1% (+8.4% like-for-like), while the UPD pharmaceutical distributor unit saw sales grow by 9.6%.

The group reached the 600-store mark during the period, and said it will aim to have 800 stores operational within 5 to 10 years.  Clicks added that it plans to open 25 new stores a year.
