Walmart has unveiled plans to bring its door greeters, four years after deciding to do away with the position.
The retail giant said door greeters will be seen again at a majority of its US stores by mid-summer. While Walmart cited improved customer service as one of the reasons for the move, it also noted that the ‘customer hosts’ will be positioned at stores that are at higher risk of suffering from thefts. The greeters will also check receipts from shoppers, in line with the practice at its Sam’s Club chain.
Walmart said the move follows a successful pilot programme.
