GERMANY: Bayer Raises Monsanto Bid To $65bn

Germany’s Bayer has raised its offer for US firm Monsanto to more $65bn, or $127.50 a share.

The company said it was advanced negotiations with Monsanto concerning the deal, adding there were no assurance that the parties will enter into an agreement.

Bayer’s initial offer of $122 a share in May was rejected by Monsanto for being “financially inadequate”.

The combination of Bayer and Monsanto would create the world’s biggest agricultural supplier.
