NETHERLANDS: Albert Heijn’s Online DC Expanded To Cope With Growing Demand

Ahold Delhaize’s has renovated and expanded one of Albert Heijn’s online national distribution facilities, the Home Shop Center (HSC) in De Meern, doubling its floor space so it can expand the number of orders that can be processed there.

The expansion included the addition of an adjacent building and the construction of a new production hall in the 10,800 sq. m. property. In addition, a new 3,000 square meter cold storage area has been installed, to make it possible to expand the fresh food range available on the online store.

Patrick Daniels, Sr. Director Operations AH Online said: “The number of customers doing online grocery shopping with continues to grow. The expansion of the Home Shop Center in De Meern means we will be able to deliver around 25,000 more orders to customers per week.”
