KENYA: Government Plays Down Uchumi Bailout Reports, Says Process Ongoing

The Kenyan government has denied reports that it has approved a bailout for Uchumi Supermarkets, the largest retailer in the country and one of the biggest in East Africa.  However, it did not end hopes of a bailout, saying it is still studying Uchumi’s proposals.
