Shoprite Holdings continues to expand its presence across the African continent, this time with the launch of its Usave discount banner in Nigeria.
The first such outlet in the country is located in the new Maryland shopping mall, located in a suburb of Ikeja, Greater Lagos. Shoprite said it will study the performance of the outlet before considering any further expansion of the banner.
Usave claims to be Africa’s only real no-frills, discount food chain, saying it offers low price by “bulk buying directly from the manufacturers … This saving is passed directly on to the customer, and as a result, they are able to get bulk value without necessarily having to buy in bulk”.
