PHILIPPINES: Alfamart Looks To Ramp Up Local Network

The Alfamart minimart chain has said it aims to more than double its store network in the Philippines within a year.

The Indonesian chain currently operates around 185 outlets in the Philippines, and said it is aiming to have 400 outlets operational by end-2017.  It also plans to add a second distribution centre during the year.

Alfamart, which operates in the country via a joint venture with SM Retail, noted: “We expect to reach break-even point by the middle of 2017, after three and half years of investment”.
