Indian FMCG major Dabur continues to expand outside its home market, this time with the acquisition of Discaria Trading, a local firm which manufactures and trades cosmetics. No financial details of the deal were disclosed.
Discaria has become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dabur India, with the latter saying the deal will help it in the “business of manufacturing and trading of cosmetics products in South Africa”. Dabur currently has no manufacturing presence in the country, although it does so in Nigeria and Egypt, which cater to the North and East African markets.
The Indian group also said the deal will be used as a platform to expand its local supply chain and for possible future acquisitions.
