Kroger has announced that industry veteran Bob Mariano will be stepping down as CEO of Roundy’s Supermarkets, effective 1 September 2016.
Mariano has held the position since 2002, and following his exit, will work as strategic adviser to Roundy’s and Kroger for two years. Kroger has not yet named his successor, only noting that Don Rosanova (President of Mariano’s) and Michael Marx (President of Roundy’s Supermarkets Wisconsin) will continue in their current roles.
Mariano (66), who has worked in the grocery industry for 42 years, noted: ” I always knew there would come a time to step aside and make way for the next generation. I feel very good about the leadership in place.”
