Walmart is pushing a new offer at its Sam’s Club chain, aimed at capturing shoppers frustrated by Costco’s troubled switch in credit cards.
The warehouse club chain is now offering Costco members free admission to shop at its own outlets through 4 July, hoping to drive customer traffic.
The move follows Costco’s decision to drop American Express in favour of Citi Visa as its store-branded credit card. Although planned for months, the move has not gone smoothly, with many members not having received the card while others being unable to activate the ones they have got. The problems have led to strong public criticism of Costco by its members.
