Chocolate brand Elizabeth Shaw has seen its popular Dark Mint Crisp win a silver award in the confectionery (chocolate) category at the FreeFrom Food Awards Ireland. The prestigious awards are judged by a panel of industry experts including food writers, food bloggers and consumers of free from products.
The Elizabeth Shaw discs – made from quality dark chocolate, infused with mint oil and blended with a “unique, melt-in-the-mouth honeycomb crisp” – came in second place for its gluten free credentials.
Hayley Coggins, product manager, noted: “FreeFrom is a relatively new but ever growing category and we are proud that our chocolate Crisps are part of this, people are often surprised that a heritage brand like ourselves could have products fall into this category – especially as a chocolate brand, so it is hugely important for us to be recognised in this way with this award.”
The FreeFrom Food Awards Ireland were launched following the success of the UK awards, which started in 2008.
