Leicester City FC’s historic triumph in the English Premier League has prompted the launch of special edition products from PepsiCo’s Walkers brand and Samworth Brothers.
Walkers has unveiled plans for limited edition packs of ‘Salt & Victory’ crisps, which will be feature a Walkers Winners logo. The bags will be sampled by fans at Leicester’s final home game vs Everton on 7 May.
Additionally, Walkers ‘Countdown to Kit Off’ digital strip tease has come to fruition, with Gary Lineker paraded on digital screens around Leicester and Manchester Piccadilly congratulating the Club on an incredible season wearing just white Y-fronts.
Meanwhile, Samworth has unveiled three special edition pies under its Walker & Son range.
The three pieces – The Walkers Big Wes & Walshy Pork Pie, The Walkers Fluted Fox, and the Walkers Mahrez Melton Mowbray Pork Pie – are created by multi-award winning Master Pie Maker, Ian Heircock, and Leicester’s Walkers pie shop in Cheapside.
Heircock, who has been making pies for Walkers for 38 years said: “I have been a Leicester fan since birth and what better way to celebrate this incredible fairy-tale story so far than doing what I do best, and that’s making these amazing Walkers pork pies to mark this amazing occasion! As a staple of the town since 1824, Walkers are proud to celebrate the success with the people of Leicester.”
