Blakemore Retail Snaps Up Seven My Local Stores

The stores, with sales areas ranging from 204 to 270 sq. m., are located in Rhyl, Rugeley, Essex, Cardiff, Chatham, Lambeth and Witham.

Blakemore Retail Managing Director Geoff Hallam commented: “I am confident the seven new stores will prove to be a fantastic addition to the business and I am delighted to welcome the staff and management teams to Blakemore Retail.”

The stores are currently undergoing a rebrand and are being merchandised to the SPAR format.  The group said they will begin trading within the coming days.

A number of the 125 My Local stores having already been sold by administrators with the Co-op picking up six and SPAR retailer Eat 17 buying one. The Southern Co-op is also said to have bought two outlets with other c-store operators likely to pick off the remaining prime sites.
