Kerry Foods Promotes Ian Garrett To Key Convenience Role

Kerry Foods has promoted Ian Garrett to the key role of Sales Director, Convenience, as it continues its campaign to help retailers grow sales of chilled foods.

Garrett’s appointment coincides with the launch of the next phase of Kerry Foods’ Building a Nation of Chilled Experts programme, under which it is aiming to help independent and convenience retailers realise a £6bn chilled sales opportunity by 2018.

Garrett moves into his new role following three years as Sales Controller, Convenience. He joined Kerry Foods in 2006 and has held a number of positions in sales and logistics.

“We are delighted to announce Ian’s appointment to this key role within our business,” explained Kerry Foods UK MD Bob Carnell. “He brings with him a wealth of experience to his new position and will be responsible for leading the sales team to deliver ambitious customer and channel strategies across wholesale and convenience.”

As part of its Building a Nation of Chilled Experts programme, Kerry Foods has predicted that sales of the £3.8bn chilled foods category could grow by £2.2bn by 2018 if retailers follow its blueprint.

To reinforce its programme, Kerry Foods recently launched a new trade website – www.chilledexperts.com – dedicated to helping convenience store operators optimise their chilled food sales by accessing the latest category advice, chilled food insights, and planograms.

The company said: “Our research shows that the chilled foods category in convenience is set to grow organically by more than £700m by 2018, but that if we can bring retailers on the journey to help them reach the next level of chilled sales excellence then that could grow by another £1.5bn. At Kerry Foods, we are passionate about helping retailers to achieve that growth and to support them wherever they are in their chilled food development.”
