The Highland Spring brand has reported record profits and revenue for its last fiscal year, highlighting the continued demand for bottled water.
The Scottish firm saw sales in 2015 grow by 3% to £103m even as pre-tax profits more than doubled to £4.3m (from £1.67m). The growth was helped by the decline in consumer demand for soft drinks (-0.5%) and fruit juices (-9.5%) last year in the UK, and the 9% growth in the overall bottled water market, according to the British Soft Drinks Association.
Highland Spring has an estimated 20% share of the UK bottled water market, and is looking to grow the same. The company is investing £20m to double its bottling capacity (to 500 million litres) by 2017.
