The UK Snack, Nut and Crisp Manufacturers Association (SNACMA) has announced that Scottish brand Mackie’s at Taypack has become the latest member to join its board. The SNACMA is a collective of Britain’s main savoury snack manufacturers who together account for well over 90% of all sales in the country.
The family-owned Mackie’s at Taypack, based in rural Perthshire, Scotland, was founded in 2009 as a joint venture between Perthshire potato farmers, the Taylor family, and ice cream brand Mackie’s of Scotland Ltd. The company has created a premium range of potato crisps which are now available in over 20 countries around the world. Earlier this year, the brand also diversified into popcorn.
George Taylor, MD of Mackie’s at Taypack’s, noted: “We are very excited to join SNACMA during this critical period of growth for our business. As we continue to expand our business, it is important for us to have a firm grasp of industry developments and trends, with which SNACMA will provide us support. Furthermore, our membership will enable us to engage with other stakeholders in the industry and contribute to the positive industry voice that SNACMA provides.”
Dr Sharon Hall, Director General at SNACMA, said: “We are delighted to welcome Mackies at Taypack and look forward to working with them and our other members to advance the interests of our sector.”
