Sainsbury’s has announced that it will double the number of Click & Collect Groceries sites in its store car parks over the next 12 months to meet increasing demand for the service.
The supermarket launched its ‘Click & Collect’ Groceries service in March 2015 and now operates 100 sites.
Robbie Feather, Sainsbury’s Director of Online, said: “We know that time is precious and people are increasingly looking for easier, more convenient ways to shop. This rollout forms part of our strategy to offer our customers more options to shop whenever and wherever they want.”
He added: “Click & Collect is proving to be a popular hybrid between online shopping and visiting a store; especially amongst shoppers juggling work and looking after young children. Most people are using this speedy ‘drive- thru’ service to do a big shop for the week ahead.Customers really like the fact that they can collect their shopping at a time that suits them and on average it takes them just three minutes from start to end.”
Sainsbury’s move to grow its online operations comes amid reports that Amazon is just weeks away from launching a full grocery delivery service in the UK.
