SPAR Joins Supermarkets In Agreeing To Switch To Cage-Free Eggs By 2025

SPAR UK has joined the recent raft to retailers pledging to stop selling eggs from caged hens.

The convenience retailer said it will phase out their sale by 2025.  Debbie Robinson, SPAR UK Managing Director said: “We have reviewed our egg suppliers including all of our regional producers and in line with the grocery market; SPAR is committing to switch to cage-free eggs by 2025.”

In recent weeks Tesco, Morrisons, Asda, Aldi, Lidl and Iceland all committed to the 2025 deadline.  Sainsbury’s, The Co-op, Waitrose and M&S all banished caged eggs from their shelves long ago.
