Tesco has appointed an experienced Group Communications Director as part of moves to improve its corporate image following the accounting scandal and revelations that it had mistreated suppliers in the past.
Jane Lawrie will join the group’s Executive Committee on 10 October 2016. She has over 25 years’ experience of corporate, financial, colleague and digital communications, and will be joining from Coca Cola, where she leads European public affairs and communications. Lawrie has significant experience in advising businesses on trust and corporate reputation, including previous roles at Diageo and Boots the Chemist.
Commenting on the appointment, Tesco’s Chief Executive Dave Lewis said: “We’re really pleased to welcome Jane to Tesco. Over the last eighteen months we’ve made good progress in restoring trust in our brand and our business, and Jane will help to continue this improvement. She has huge expertise and experience, as well as extremely strong values. We’re really looking forward to having her in the team.”
