Wilko Stores To Remain Open

Wilko has confirmed that all of its stores will remain open throughout the coronavirus crisis after being designated as an essential retailer by the government.

As with other retailers keeping their doors open, Wilko is introducing measures to protect its staff and customers. These include removing ‘pick n mix’ confectionery, enhancing cleaning practices, adding physical distancing schemes, quantity controls, and queue marshalls. In addition, stores will be closing earlier at 5pm to give staff extra time to clean and replenish shelves.

Jerome Saint-Marc, Wilko’s Chief Executive, said: “Not everyone has a large supermarket nearby to get the non-food essentials they need for their family. With 17 million people living within two kilometres of a Wilko store we can help fulfil this need. Our locations and the wide range of products in our stores mean you can do a big shop with us without needing to travel far or visit multiple shops.”
