The Southern Co-op is to start trials of a new grocery delivery service using the Snappy Shopper app.
The operator of 200 convenience stores across the south of England will begin a pilot on Monday which will offer residents who live Chichester and Portsmouth the option of having their shopping delivered in as little as 60 minutes.
There will be more than 1,700 different products available to order via Snappy Shopper app, including bread, milk, soft drinks, snacks, groceries, pet food, baby care, household products, magazines, newspapers and alcohol. The service will cost £3, plus a 4% service charge payable to Snappy Shopper.
Andrew Farndell, Head of Trading and Format at Southern Co-op, said: “We’d started looking at ways to offer a delivery service to our shoppers at the end of last year but, when lockdown hit, we had to focus all our efforts on keeping the shelves stocked, supporting our store colleagues and putting new measures in place to protect people from COVID-19.
“We know some of our colleagues went above and beyond and delivered essentials in their local neighbourhoods but we just didn’t have the capacity to roll this out everywhere. So it’s both a relief and a pleasure to be launching the trial in Chichester and Portsmouth with the hope it can be rolled out wider later on this year.”
NAM Implications:
- Key for suppliers to ensure zero-defect availability…
- …in order to optimise these inevitabilities.
- Taking the above as read…
- …perhaps suppliers should be more concerned about those customers not actively implementing home delivery.
