Amazon Opens Seventh ‘Just Walk Out’ Store

Amid speculation that Amazon is planning to significantly accelerate the rollout of its Fresh grocery stores in the UK, the online giant opened its seventh site yesterday in East Sheen, London.

The retailer also yesterday launched its new ‘by Amazon’ Christmas range which includes festive favourites such as mince pies, pigs in blankets, and chocolate yule log.

Reports this week said the online giant wants to have over 260 of the Amazon Fresh stores operating in the UK before the end of 2024 to challenge the established players in the sector.

All of the Amazon Fresh stores opened so far have been in high footfall areas in London with the next two expected to be in Holborn and Chingford. The company has already confirmed that additional stores are planned for the Greater London area, although roll out to other large cities is likely to be the next step in its drive to grab a significant share of the UK grocery market.
