Aldi Hikes Pay For Warehouse Workers

Having recently given its 26,000 store workers a second pay rise this year, Aldi has announced that it is increasing the hourly rate of pay for thousands working in its 11 regional distribution centres across the UK.

From September, all hourly paid staff within its warehouses will have received pay rises of up to 9% on their previous January 2022 hourly rates. The majority of distribution centre roles are Warehouse Selectors, who will receive a new minimum rate of £12.66 an hour.

The move follows the company’s annual pay review, which came into effect from February and saw pay rates across Aldi’s logistics network increase.

The discounter noted that all its logistics staff working outside normal operating hours will also see their night premium payments increase from 20% to 25% of their normal hourly rate.

“This announcement recognises the amazing contribution our logistics colleagues make in serving communities across the country,” said Giles Hurley, Chief Executive Officer of Aldi UK and Ireland.

“We’re also pleased to be able to increase the night premium we pay to our many colleagues who work so hard to keep our stores well-stocked. Their outstanding efforts help ensure that our customers continue to have access to fresh affordable food, every single day.”
