Poundland Preparing For ‘Super Saturday’ Of Openings

Poundland is to open eight new stores, relocations and extensions on 10 December in a ‘Super Saturday’ of openings in time for the final Christmas shopping surge.

The new and enlarged stores range from 3,800 sq.ft. serving their local neighbourhoods, to 18,000 sq.ft. supersize stores offering its full range, including chilled & frozen food, PEP&CO clothing and homeware. In total, the new stores will add almost 100,000 sq.ft. of space to Poundland’s trading estate.

Poundland Chief Operating Officer, Austin Cooke, said: “This investment in towns and cities up and down the country shows our commitment to bringing shoppers more choice and amazing value just when they need it the most.

“Whether it’s daily essentials at a neighbourhood store or choosing from our PEP&CO seasonal clothing range to make Christmas extra special this year, we’re there to help our customers find ways to cope with the pressures on their budgets.”

The December openings mark the culmination of a period of significant investment by Poundland since August which has seen openings, relocations and extensions across the UK.

Earlier this month, Poundland revealed that its ‘Project Diamond’ store revamp programme was being rolled out to as many as 300 more stores over the next 12 months. More than 350 of its stores have already had makeovers in the last three years.
