British Corner Shop, the online grocery store selling well-known brands to expats around the world, has secured extra funding from private investment firm Rcapital.
The deal will fund British Corner Shop’s growth plans for its global direct-to-consumer e-commerce business. The retailer offers over 6,000 British brands and has already served 600,000 customers. The company noted that with five million British expats around the world, the opportunity for growth is “huge”.
British Corner Shop owns a distribution centre in the Netherlands from which it supplies its growing customer base globally. Its product, sales, marketing, and customer service teams are based in the UK.
In addition to strong sales in Europe, British Corner Shop said it was already seeing growth in North America, with emerging demand in markets such as Australia, Singapore, Israel, and India, and interest from new markets such as Czechia, Slovakia, and Hungary.
