With total fundraising of $1.8bn to date and a last fundraise that halved its valuation, Getir is still looking for targets. It swallowed Gorillas in a reasonably large deal and now it’s got Flink in its sights (see here). It is hoping to be one of the two or three left in the European market, with Gopuff being one of the last sizeable players with deep enough pockets.
The common mouse has a life cycle of around 2 years, which is around the same length as most quick commerce grocery start-ups. It’s a fleeting 15 minutes of fame being a quick commerce start-up. The great sage of Omaha once said: “Only when the tide goes out do you learn who has been swimming naked.” It’s pretty close to being a neap tide….
