Leading kombucha brand Remedy has launched a new naturally caffeinated energy drink range.
Remedy Energy will initially be available in two flavours, Berry Blast and Tropical Twist (RRP – £2 per 250ml can). It is rolling out in WHSmith with a multipack format available online at remedydrinks.co.uk or via Amazon.
It is made with green tea, raw green coffee bean extract and ginseng to deliver a naturally caffeinated product that offers consumers a healthier spin on energy drinks.
Each gluten-free and vegan-friendly drink contains 80mg of caffeine, which is the same as a typical cup of coffee.
The size of the UK sports and energy drinks market increased by over 22% last year. However, the brand pointed to research showing around a third of UK consumers who don’t drink energy drinks want a wider range of natural variants.
Remedy is leading the growth of the kombucha category, expanding at nearly 70% year-on-year. It is also the market leader with a category share of over 30%, twice the size of its nearest competitor.
Commenting on the launch of Remedy Energy, Ian Hadley, the company’s UK Commercial Director, said: “Remedy’s incredible growth within the UK demonstrates a clear consumer appetite for healthier soft drinks. This, coupled with the rapid and sustained growth of the UK’s energy drinks market, has created an exciting opportunity for a natural, healthier energy drink alternative which our customers can feel good about drinking.
“The energy drink category is currently dominated by a range of drinks featuring excessive sugar and artificial ingredients. With three-quarters of the population looking to reduce or avoid sugar in their diet, the demand for a variant like Remedy Energy has never been stronger.”
