Wine Startup Launching Low Alcohol Range

London-based wine startup NICE will launch its first lower ABV range in January.

NICE-Wine-Low-ABVThe 3.4% ABV NICE Session Sauvignon Blanc and NICE Session Merlot will be available to consumers from the brand’s website and to the on-trade in 75cl bottles (RRP £10).

NICE noted that wine is a complex liquid and difficult to de-alcoholise without affecting the flavour and aroma. However, it claims its Session wine tastes like standard full-strength options and does not compromise on the “mouthfeel you’d expect from your favourite wines”.

The brand’s Co-founder, Lucy Busk, said: “Moderation of alcohol isn’t new and it isn’t niche. Three out of four UK adults are proactively moderating their alcohol intake; the same as the number of people who consume alcohol at least once per week. It’s also not just a Gen Z phenomenon, we can see from the data that it’s happening across all age groups. That’s why we created Session wine, to offer consumers more choice” –

NICE already sells a range of standard ABV wines in cans and boxes, with listings in retailers such as Sainsbury’s, Amazon and Ocado.
