Chilean wine brand Casillero del Diablo is launching a new pair of lower-alcohol wines, BeLight Sauvignon Blanc and Rosé. Catering to health-conscious consumers, each 125ml glass contains only 65 calories and has an alcohol content of 8.5%.
Casillero del Diablo’s winemaking team source grapes from regions where the varieties ripen earlier in the season. This enables them to obtain grapes with lower sugar content and, subsequently, lower alcohol content through a natural process.
Brands Controller for Concha y Toro UK, Claire Raine, said: “The No and Low Wine Category is seeing significant volume growth in a contracting market, and it is forecast to grow even faster in the months to come. It is well documented that the 18-34 age group in particular are moderating their alcohol intake.
“We’re so excited to launch these wines, and after extensive testing among consumer groups we’re really confident that wine shoppers of all types will enjoy the trademark Casillero quality here, but presented in a lighter style for any occasion.”
Both wines will be available in Tesco stores from 5 August (RRP £7).
