SPAR stores across the North of England supplied by wholesaler James Hall & Co. Ltd. have started stocking Hawkstone, the beer and cider brand owned by television star Jeremy Clarkson.
The range will be sold in a select number of SPAR stores in individual bottles, with the lager priced at £2.75, the pilsner at £2.49, and the cider at £2.99.
All Hawkstone lagers are brewed with barley grown by British farmers, including Clarkson’s Farm in the Cotswolds. The brand’s commitment to local sourcing extends to its cider, which is made with only apples from British orchards.
Rob Midgley, Head of Trading for Licenced products at James Hall & Co. Ltd, said: “We are thrilled to be selling Hawkstone products and we anticipate that the premium lager, pilsner, and cider will be in strong demand from customers, particularly those who are fans of Clarkson’s Farm.
“We know that Hawkstone is a sought-after brand, and there has been real thirst for the range from both our company-owned G&E Murgatroyd SPAR stores and our SPAR independent retailers.
“By selling the product in individual bottles, it provides fans of the show who may not have tried it a chance to sample it, and introduces the product to new customers too, hopefully encouraging them to develop a taste for Hawkstone products longer term.”
Hawkstone also recently secured its first national grocery listing with Waitrose.
