Bestway Wholesale’s retail unit, which operates the Best-one, Costcutter, Bargain Booze and Wine Rack brands, has announced three senior appointments.

Nick Russell has rejoined Bestway Retail in the role of Head of Symbol, leading the Best-one and Costcutter estates. He previously worked for Costcutter before it was acquired by Bestway in 2021. Russell has spent the last three and half years at Morrisons, most recently in the role of Head of Independent Franchise and New Business for its Daily convenience format.
Steve Moore has also returned to Bestway to lead its Midlands and South Wales team from January 2025 in the new role of Regional Controller for Costcutter and Best-one. Moore worked at Costcutter until the summer of 2021 and has spent the last three and half years as Head of Retail at Parfetts.
Meanwhile, Rodney Tucker has also rejoined the group in the New Business and Acquisitions Team where he will drive the recruitment in the Southwest and South Wales territories. He previously held Regional Management positions within both Costcutter and Best-one up until the start of 2020. He rejoins from Appleby Westward, where he was Sales Director and most recently led their New Business function.
Bestway stated that three appointments reflect its commitment to “investing in talent to underpin its position as a leader in the symbol market and strengthen its support for independent retailers”.
Jamie Davison, Retail Director at Bestway, said: “They bring with them valuable expertise, knowledge and sector understanding that will support our growth plans and the service we offer our valued retailers.”
NAM Implications:
- The potential gain for Bestway is obvious…
- What is perhaps more interesting is the gap each leaves behind?
