Help! My ASIN got delisted on Amazon. What can I do?
Most 1P vendors will have encountered this situation. The delisted item may even have a higher Net PPM than the vendor account.
There are many reasons why a product gets delisted:
- Manual profit interventions from Vendor Managers
- One-off events like liquidations that spike Amazon’s costs
- Decline in product ASP due to 3P sellers or price matching
- Heavy/bulky products that require higher Net PPM margins
- High return rates due to missing or incomplete PDP content
The problem is:
Vendor Managers will seek cost support no matter the reason for the delisting.
Which puts you at risk of financing the defect but not eliminating it.
So whenever a product gets delisted:
- Ignore the Net PPM or margin demands from Amazon
- Review ASP performance vs the last quarter and YoY
- Assess changes to return rates and defective inventory
- Benchmark your 1P margins vs Amazon’s 3P FBA rate card
- Understand if it’s a one-off or structural margin defect
Once you have gone through the above, you’ll be in a better position to assess your options for getting the product re-listed.
