He will replace Ralph Findlay, who took over the position in June after Patrick McMahon stepped down following the discovery of historic accounting errors during his time as CFO, which led to the company’s full-year accounts being delayed.

Findlay will return to the position of Non-Executive Chair following a short period of transition after White joins the business on 20 January.

White stepped down as boss of AG Barr at the end of April after 22 years of leading the soft drinks firm. He was subsequently replaced by industry veteran Euan Sutherland.

Commenting on White’s appointment, Findlay said: “An acknowledged high-calibre leader, he will bring an exceptional combination of extensive branded drinks sector expertise, understanding of our markets and a proven track record of delivery.

“We look forward to working with Roger. His knowledge and insight will be of great relevance and invaluable to C&C as we continue the recent positive momentum underway within the business and progress our plans to deliver enhanced shareholder value.”

White added: “C&C has a unique business model, great brands and a committed team, with the potential to create significant long-term value. I look forward to working with the Board and the wider team to lead C&C through the next phase of its development.”

C&C reported a sharp drop in profits in its last financial year following disruption linked to bungled software upgrade at its Matthew Clark and Bibendum businesses.

In recent half-year results, C&C said it remained on track to meet full-year expectations despite the poor summer weather hitting trade.
