Lidl Slashing Easter Veg Prices To 15p

In a move similar to its Christmas promotion, Lidl is cutting the price of some Easter roast dinner vegetables to just 15p, with savings of up to 89% per item.

The ‘Easter Pick of the Week’ deal covers carrots, potatoes, parsnips, green beans, swede, and spring onions from the 15th April.

Richard Bourns, Chief Commercial Officer for Lidl, said: “We believe that everyone should have access to fresh, high-quality food, and Easter is no exception. Easter can be an expensive time for many families up and down the country, and Lidl customers can rest assured that we will always offer unbeatable value.”

The discounter noted that it was funding the promotion with no impact on the payment for British farmers.

Bourns said: “Lidl hold a proud, long-standing commitment to British agriculture, and through our long-term partnerships and fixed-cost pricing our producers are guaranteed a fair price all year round. This commitment allows us to offer our customers the unbeatable value they expect form us, without ever compromising on quality or fairness.”

Data released by Kantar yesterday showed that Lidl’s sales rose by 9.1% over the 12 weeks to 23 March, taking its market share to 7.8%, 0.4 percentage points higher than a year ago. It attracted 385,000 more shoppers last month, more than any other grocer, and saw a double-digit rise in footfall.

NAM Implications:
  • A timely, eye-catching promo.
  • And who knows, when the shopper is onsite…
  • …what other items may be noticed.
  • Neat!
