Planted Launches First Plant-Based Steak In Tesco

Planted has launched its first plant-based steak in Tesco’s UK stores following a successful debut in European foodservice and retail.

planted-steakMade from soya protein, bean and rice flour, rapeseed oil, and a mix of microbial cultures, planted.steak offers a “premium, high-protein, high-fibre product that is packed with key nutrients such as vitamin B12 and iron”.

Thanks to an innovative fermentation process, it boasts an authentic umami flavour, which is claimed to set a new standard for large plant-based cuts in the retail market.

Low in saturated fats, with no additives and only natural ingredients, the product is aimed at flexitarians, dedicated plant-based eaters, as well as meat lovers looking for an eco-friendly alternative.

“Throughout the development process, we worked closely with over 50 chefs to create a plant-based steak that truly stands out for its flavour, texture, and overall eating experience. Our planted.steak is designed to satisfy even the most discerning food lovers, making it a real game changer – not just for us, but for the plant-based industry as a whole,” said Planted co-founder Christoph Jenny.

“No other plant-based steak is made solely from natural ingredients, with no additives, while delivering such exceptional juiciness and tenderness.”

planted.steak started rolling out in selected Tesco stores this week, with an RRP of £4.
