Heinz Launches Tomato Ketchup Zero

Heinz is rolling out a new tomato ketchup variant with no added sugar or salt in the UK.

Heinz-Tomato-Ketchup-ZeroTomato Ketchup Zero contains 35% more tomatoes than the original product and was created in response to consumer demand for “healthier” options.

In a recent survey conducted for Heinz, British consumers expressed that healthier products with reduced salt and sugar were their top influencing factor when choosing food and beverages.

In a taste test conducted by the brand, nine out of 10 participants said that the new ketchup “delivers on the iconic quality they expect.”

Alexandra Bayet, the company head of innovation for Tomato Ketchup in Europe, commented: “Consumers expect ‘Zero’ products to fall flat on flavour – because ‘Zero’ often means less. We wanted to turn that on its head and create a ketchup that’s all about more of what you love, even with fewer ingredients.

“Developed using our 150-year sauce know-how, taste expertise and containing 35% more sun-ripened tomatoes, grown especially for Heinz, our new Heinz Zero Added Sugar & Salt Tomato Ketchup delivers a bold, satisfying taste that lives up to the standard set by our iconic original.”

Heinz Tomato Ketchup Zero has launched in Sainsbury’s and will be available in all major retailers from July, with an RRP of £3.39.
