New Caribbean Sauce Brand Rolling Out In Tesco

Caribbean sauce brand Nimi Nosh made its UK supermarket debut this week. Three of the contemporary Caribbean sauces and marinades are available in 400 Tesco stores and online – Epic Jerk Quick Marinade & Sauce (250ml; RRP £3.30), Cracking Curry Quick Marinade & Sauce (250ml; RRP £3.30) and Authentic Pepper Sauce (150ml; RRP £2.85).

Nimi-Nosh-saucesThe brand was founded by Jamaican-born Londoner, Nicole Michael (‘Nimi’) and inspired by her mother’s sauce recipes (‘Nosh’). After trialling the products at over 70 food markets and events during the last two years, this national retail debut marks a major milestone for the independent brand and the condiment category.

Nimi Nosh’s sauces can be used for pouring, dipping, seasoning and marinating. Their retail debut comes during an exciting time for the sauce category, with consumers craving spice, newness and global flavours. In 2023, the UK market for table sauces hit £1bn, with hot and spicy sauces continuing to drive value growth.

Nicole Michael, founder of Nimi Nosh, said: “Growing up in a big Jamaican family, I learnt that every meal is an opportunity for full flavour and true food love. My food adventures are all thanks to my Mum, a food market trader in Kingston, Jamaica. I was mesmerised by her artistry in combining specific spices to create sauces that brought sunshine to the hustle and bustle of my town and its people.

“This is what we’ve bottled up in this range, a way to ‘jam’in the flava’ to every meal and make it memorable for busy consumers who so often mix up their cuisines in the name of inspiration, invention and joy. I couldn’t be happier to see it on supermarket shelves, available for everyone to taste. This is the spiciest thing to ever happen in mainstream world cuisine and with big tings planned, we’re just getting started!”
