Aldi’s laundry range made a clean sweep in a detergent test by consumer group Which? The discounter’s Almat Triple Chamber Bio Laundry Capsules were named the best washing detergent capsules, beating the likes of Persil and Ariel. The own brand capsules also won the Great Value and Eco Buy accolades.
Aldi noted that its detergent costs £3.29 (20 capsules), which at 16p per wash makes it 60% cheaper per wash than Persil Bio 3 in 1 Capsules.
Following testing, the Which? panel of experts gave the Almat Triple Chamber Bio Laundry Capsules a score of 79%, beating the leading brand Persil, which scored 62%.
Three more of its detergents also took ‘Great Value’ awards during testing. The Almat Biological Washing Powder scored 66%, while the Almat Non-Biological Washing Powder achieved a score of 65%, and the Almat Super Concentrated Non-Bio Laundry Liquid was rated at 61%.
Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Corporate Buying at Aldi UK, said: “It’s important that shoppers can maintain clean and stain-free clothing using effective products, at affordable prices. Achieving a Which? Best Buy for our Triple Action Chamber Capsules speaks volumes about the quality of our cleaning products – why pay more when you can buy the best at Aldi?”
