Barossa Ink Brings New Cabernet Sauvignon To Shelves

Accolade Wines-owned brand Grant Burge has expanded its range of Barossa Ink wines with a new Cabernet Sauvignon. The new varietal aims to increase sales and drive awareness of the Ink brand, with consumers searching for more sophisticated drink options and regional appellations to explore.

barossa-ink-wineSurfacing from the Barossa Valley region, Barossa Ink Cabernet Sauvignon comes in an eye-catching bottle that reflects the “bold and complex wine”.

This extension to the Ink range comes following the success of the existing Barossa Ink portfolio, with its Shiraz varietal securing £4.7m in value sales – up by 59% volume growth – in the last year. The launch will be supported by below-the-line activity, tactical digital content, and trade marketing in stores and online.

Anne Uva, Brand Manager at Accolade Wines, said: “Cabernet Sauvignon is a great varietal for the typical red wine drinker – they’re full bodied and full of flavour. Although it’s a widely recognised and accessible variety, the quality of Cabernet’s Sauvignon wines can vary greatly across the board.

“The Grant Burge Portfolio is known for its premium and quality wine; wines that come from prized vineyards that are nurtured by winemakers with decades of knowledge and expertise. The brand has a history of devotion and sharing, so we wanted to use this to bring a quality Cabernet Sauvignon to the market – one that shoppers can trust and enjoy. Through its distinct Ink branding, consumers will know they are purchasing a wine that is true to the variety and is sure to impress.”

NAM Implications:
  • ‘Up by 59% volume growth’ will be of interest to retailers…
  • (…and rivals?)
