Protein brand Better Nature is looking to appeal to health-conscious meat-eaters with the launch of its new and improved organic Tempeh into Tesco, Asda and Ocado (RRP from £2.70 for a 200g pack).
The brand has hiked up the product’s protein content, now at 44g of protein per pack, which is the same as six eggs or 1 ⅓ chicken breasts.
The new product also absorbs flavours better, resulting in a tempeh that can be flavoured and cooked just like chicken. It also contains fibre and prebiotics and is a source of iron.
Elin Roberts, Co-CEO and Co-Founder of Better Nature, said: “For us as a brand, purely being plant-based no longer sells. It’s not drawing in the masses. Instead, we’re tapping into the growing number of meat-eaters who are looking for healthier ways to pack in the protein.
“New research shows that almost half of UK shoppers (46%) are regularly buying meat-free products, even the 21% of committed carnivores. The overwhelming majority of these (64%) are doing this for health reasons. Our New & Improved Supercharged Organic Tempeh has been created with these shoppers in mind.
“Thanks to sourcing new, better soya beans (which are still Organic and non-GMO), we’ve packed in a whopping 44g of protein per pack, which is the same as 1 1⁄3 chicken breasts. However, better than a so-so protein like chicken, our tempeh is also supercharged with gut-health benefits, is 100% natural, and has a shelf life that’s seven times longer.
“There’s also no need to learn new cooking skills as it can be flavoured and cooked just like chicken.”
