Co-op Launches Coronation Street-Inspired Products

Co-op has announced the launch of two new Coronation Street licensed food lines, further expanding the partnership between the two Manchester-based institutions.

The food lines include a six-pack of Roy’s Rolls (£1.15) and pack of two The Kabin’s rhubarb and custard cupcakes (£1.25).

Co-op first began its collaboration with the soap in 2018, with a store featuring on the Weatherfield set in one of the largest product placement partnerships on British TV. Now on its sixth year, the store façade can be spotted frequently on air along with Co-op branding featuring on posters, bags, and delivery vans.

The new launches follow a series of collaborations between Coronation Street and convenience retailer, including a previous selection of licensed products from Co-op’s food-to-go and ready meal ranges (The Coronation Street Chicken Sandwich and Betty’s Hotpot), a Coronation Street designed Co-op shopping bag to celebrate the Soap’s 60th anniversary, and a Coronation Street themed re-design of Co-op’s fleet that delivers products to its stores.

Lois McClure, Assistant Partnerships Manager at Co-op, said: “We’ve had such a great response from customers, colleagues and Coronation Street fans since the launch of the Weatherfield Co-op store in 2018, and we’re excited to continue building on our partnership and our shared sense of community spirit.

“As a convenience retailer, we’re at the heart of local life and it’s always a pleasure to bring more of the cobbles to Co-op – we know this resonates with our customers so it’s great to be involved in providing them with more opportunities to engage closer with such an iconic show.”
